Becoming A Life Coach

Many of my clients feel their working lives are increasingly meaningless and boring, yet they don't have much idea what to do instead. Often they feel foolish to admit that they "want to help people". Really, there's no reason to feel foolish - that's a noble goal, and one which life coaching really offers.

Sometimes when I'm finished with a client I'm jubilant in the knowledge that I have helped them in a profound way (see my testimonials). I know that the course of their life will flow much better now that an obstacle has been discovered and removed. It's a humbling yet fantastic feeling.

And of course, coaching offers a self-employed existence - very attractive if you're trapped in a 9-to-5 you hate.

But being a life coach involves building a business. That's all about market research, marketing, building a website, contacts, engaging with potential clients, financial management, and a filthy amount of really hard work - NONE of which is coaching! It can be a really hard struggle.

But I can help you. Certainly, have a look around my website and get some ideas.

But perhaps I can help you more than showing you my shop. It's been a long road to get to this point, so I have a lot of experience in building a website, making it work, building a business, marketing and much more. I love to coach, and there' no reason why I shouldn't coach you in bringing your coaching business along.

Here are some ideas:

• As a coach, I'm a small-business creator and owner (and in fact, this isn't the only successful business I've built). The road to successful independent living can be a hard one, but I've been there and done it. I can really help you, and I love the work. We'll have fun, and you'll get where you want to be - a great deal quicker.
• I was a freelance lecturer in we website design in the corporate and public sectors for more than three years. I build built many successful websites. There's a world of difference between PRETTY and FUNCTIONAL. The bottom line is - how often does the phone ring with paying clients. I can help you move from Pretty to Paying - or I can help you from the bottom-up.
• There is a lot of technology on this site. Interactive surveys, newsletter systems, dynamic menus, etc. I also have automated systems to help me with building reciprocal links, tracking website effectiveness, and so on. I can get you on the fast track and keep you there. There's quite a bit you can't see - like my warning systems which email me when something odd happens that I need to take care of. Most people "manage" their website blind. They can't develop an overview of how it's being used, and trust me - without that - you are virtually certain to fail completely. I can help.
• Marketing is key and a whole new minefield. I can help you with Page Rank, AdWords, Google Analytics, split-testing, and all that ... stuff! You probably didn't realise that - when you become a coach - you necessarily became a marketeer, and all the rest of it - and you might hate it and be very bad at it. You wanted to COACH, right?? There's a real danger that top-notch coaches can bit the dust before client 1. Don't let that happen.

  I DO NOT TRAIN LIFE PEOPLE TO BE LIFE COACHES - YOU MUST GET THAT TRAINING ELSEWHERE.
  
  I can't offer you advice on which training organisation to go with - it's been so long since I trained and I don't stay abreast of the cuirrent traqining organisations. However, here are some for you to choose from.
  
  And I don't have the time to chat about what it's like to be a life coach, or how much you can earn, or to impart technical know-how on websites, etc.
